Investor View

Wind — the steady asset that complements solar.

Turkey has strong wind potential, especially along the Aegean, Marmara and Southeastern corridors. Licensed wind generation (WPP) offers corporate investors a predictable, long-term income stream with fixed purchase guarantees and high capacity factors — and wind, which often strengthens at night and in winter, naturally complements solar.

Led by the 61 MWp DicleRES won in the 2017 YEKA tender, Egesa manages a portfolio of more than 770 MWp across 13 licensed wind projects, from Thrace to Eastern Anatolia, taking each investment from measurement to operation. WAsP/WindPRO P50/P90 modelling, turbine layout optimisation and guaranteed O&M raise returns and lower risk.

Frequently Asked Questions

About investing in wind (WPP)

  • What are licensed WPP and YEKA-RES?

Licensed wind farms are built to sell electricity directly to the grid; YEKA-RES projects are large-scale schemes developed through competitive tenders in state-allocated renewable energy zones. Egesa has hands-on experience in this model with the 61 MWp DicleRES won in the 2017 tender.

  • Why does wind measurement take 12–18 months?

At least a year of met-mast data is needed to capture seasonal variability. This data becomes a P50/P90 yield estimate via WAsP/WindPRO — a reliable, bankable basis for lenders and investors.

  • What is capacity factor, and why does wind complement solar?

Capacity factor is how much of installed power a plant generates over a year; on good wind sites it is 35–45%. Wind often strengthens at night and in winter — generating when solar is weak and balancing the portfolio.

  • How long does a WPP take to build?

Including measurement and licensing, the total can span a few years; once the site is ready, construction and erection typically complete within a year. We manage the whole process with a transparent eight-step roadmap.

  • What is the turbine lifetime and maintenance?

Modern onshore turbines have a 25+ year design life. 24/7 SCADA monitoring, preventive and corrective maintenance and a guaranteed O&M contract ensure high uptime.

  • Can we combine wind with energy storage (BESS)?

Yes. A wind + battery hybrid balances variable generation, optimises peak-hour sales and can provide grid services.

  • Do you provide financing and feasibility support?

Yes. We support investment analysis, P50/P90-based financial modelling, financial-institution connections and loan processes.
